Terms of Service

Last updated: 5 October 2026

These terms cover using Retrove, on the web and in our app. Retrove is a curated marketplace of vetted sellers operated by Retrove Clothing Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 17342272 at 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom (contact info@retroveclothing.com). Vetted sellers (vintage shops, online resellers and clothing brands) sell their pieces through Retrove, and members can re-sell pieces they bought here. The shop or member listing a piece is its seller. Retrove provides the platform: we take payment, arrange postage, and handle customer support and returns, so we are always your point of contact.

Your account

You can browse freely, but you need an account to buy, sell, post or use our AI features. You must be at least 18 to buy, sell, post content or compete in the Runway. Competing in the Runway involves a photo of you and, in some runs, virtual coins, which is why we ask you to confirm your age before your first entry. You sign in with a one-time link or code sent to your email, so keep that email address current. Your account is yours alone: tell us straight away if you think someone else has used it.

Stock availability

A piece may also be available through its seller's shop or another sales channel. We keep connected stock in sync, but if an item sells elsewhere at the same moment you order it here, we will cancel that order and refund you in full. Nothing else is affected.

Placing an order

Your order is an offer to buy. A contract forms once your payment is confirmed and your order is accepted. If an order cannot be fulfilled, we will tell you and refund any payment in full.

Prices, currency and payment

Each piece is priced in its shop's own currency: pounds for UK shops, dollars for US shops, and so on. You pay in that currency. One checkout can include several shops when their pieces share a currency; each shop fulfils its own part of the order. Pieces in different currencies need separate checkouts. If your card is in a different currency, your bank converts at its own rate. Delivery is shown separately at checkout. Payment is taken securely through Stripe at the time you order. We do not store your card details.

Delivery

Each shop posts its own parcel, normally within 48 hours of your order, by a tracked service, which can include Royal Mail, Evri or InPost in the UK and carriers such as USPS or Canada Post elsewhere. Delivery from a UK shop to a UK address is charged per shop; available services and other delivery are quoted for your address at checkout. Delivery times are estimates. Risk in the item passes to you on delivery.

International orders and customs

Buyers in the UK, US, Canada and Australia can buy from participating shops abroad. International parcels travel with a customs declaration and are sent DDU (delivered duty unpaid). That means the price you pay at checkout does not include any import duty, VAT, GST or carrier handling fee your country may charge, and you are responsible for paying those charges when the parcel arrives. If a parcel is held or sent back because charges were not paid, get in touch and we will work out next steps with you and the shop.

Condition of vintage items

A piece may be vintage, pre-owned or new, as stated in its listing. Vintage and pre-owned clothing can carry signs of age, and notable flaws are described in the listing. If anything is unclear before you buy, just ask.

Your right to cancel and return

When you buy from a shop, you have 14 calendar days, starting the day after delivery, to tell us you want to cancel for any reason under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. If the final day falls on a weekend or UK bank holiday, the window ends after the next working day. Start the return from your order page, email us, or send a clear cancellation notice to the contact address above, then send it back within another 14 days. You may use the model cancellation form, but you do not have to. Return the piece in the condition you received it; you may inspect it as you would in a shop. You cover the cost of change-of-mind return postage: for UK returns we provide a tracked return label for a small flat fee when you start the return. We refund the price you paid, including our commission, and eligible standard delivery. The refund is due within 14 days of receiving the piece back or evidence that you sent it, whichever is earlier. International returns are arranged manually for now: contact the shop through your order page and we will help set it up. You still cover the return postage. Purchases made in person do not carry this distance-selling change-of-mind right; faulty or misdescribed goods still carry their statutory protections. Our contact address is not a parcel-return address: use the instructions for your return.

Return disputes

If a shop declines your return inside the 14-day window, that is not the end of it. The return becomes a dispute and Retrove steps in to adjudicate, with the starting point that an in-window return is refunded. Outside the window a shop may decline a return, and you can still escalate to us if you think that is wrong. Nothing in this section limits your statutory rights.

Faulty or misdescribed items

If a piece arrives faulty, damaged or not as described, contact us so we can arrange a return and refund with the seller, including return postage. Your statutory rights, including those under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, are unaffected.

Re-selling on Retrove

You can re-sell a piece you bought on Retrove. If you sell:

For a pre-loved piece, the member listing it is the seller. A private individual's sale does not carry the statutory 14-day change-of-mind right that applies to trader sales. Retrove provides a 14-day change-of-mind return window for these online purchases too; contact us to arrange a resale return manually. If the seller is acting as a trader, your statutory consumer rights apply. If a piece never arrives or is significantly not as described, contact us and we will step in. Every piece carries its passport: an anonymised record of its journey showing the origin shop and each owner as "Owner 1", "Owner 2" and so on, with month and year only. No personal details are ever shown on a passport.

Retrove+

Retrove+ is our optional subscription, with Plus (currently £9.99 a month) and Pro (currently £17.99 a month) tiers, billed monthly through Stripe on our website. Each tier includes a monthly allowance of AI try-ons and stylist looks, as set out on the Retrove+ page. Allowances reset each month and unused ones do not roll over. You can cancel at any time from your account through the billing portal, and you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for. This stops future renewals; it does not replace your initial statutory cancellation right. You have 14 days starting the day after your initial contract to cancel by emailing info@retroveclothing.com or sending a clear notice to our contact address. We will handle any refund due under your statutory rights within 14 days of your notice. Using a feature does not, by itself, waive those rights. If prices or allowances change, we will tell you before your next renewal.

AI features

Try-on renders are AI-generated illustrations, not photographs. Fit, colour and drape in real life may differ, and a render does not form part of an item's description. Stylist suggestions are ideas, not promises. Free allowances are limited per account, and in the app per device, to keep them fair for everyone. Working around those limits, for example with multiple accounts, may lead to access being restricted.

Reels and community content

Members can post short videos (reels) and follow each other. All vintage fashion is welcome. Anything explicit, hateful or off-topic is not, and will be removed. Every reel is reviewed before it appears in the feed.

Acceptable use

Use Retrove lawfully and honestly. Do not list counterfeit or stolen goods, misuse other members' content or details, interfere with the platform, or scrape it with bots. We may remove listings or content, restrict features or suspend accounts where needed to keep Retrove safe and fair. Where we can, we will tell you why.

Our liability

Shops and resale sellers are responsible for their own items and listings. We do not exclude any liability that cannot be excluded by law, including liability for fraud or death or personal injury caused by negligence. We are responsible for foreseeable loss or damage caused by our breach of these terms or failure to use reasonable care and skill. Your statutory rights as a consumer are unaffected.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Retrove grows. The date at the top shows the latest version, and we will flag material changes on the site or in the app before they take effect.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes fall to its courts. If you buy from a country whose law gives you mandatory consumer protections, you keep them.
