Retrove Seller Terms
These terms apply from 1 November 2026. Until then the 8 October 2026 version applies.
This agreement is between Retrove, a marketplace operated by Retrove Clothing Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 17342272 at 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom (contact info@retroveclothing.com), and your shop ("you"). It applies from the moment you are approved to sell on Retrove.
What Retrove does
We give your shop a curated online shopfront, take payment from buyers, generate postage, and market the edit. Your stock stays yours and remains with you until it sells, in store or online. We do not buy your stock from you, and we do not take title to it.
Commission and payouts
- Retrove charges a flat 10% commission on the sale price of each item sold through the platform, the same rate for every shop. It is shown in your dashboard. You keep the remainder.
- Payments are collected from buyers through Stripe. You connect your own Stripe account once during onboarding, and your share is paid out directly to it.
- We transfer your saved share to your connected Stripe account after the 14-day cancellation window following confirmed delivery has ended. These are calendar days; if the final day falls on a weekend or UK bank holiday, the window ends after the next working day. Transfers run on UK working days. Payment settlement, a funded refund reserve and completed Stripe checks are required. Open returns, disputes or unresolved currency checks can delay release. Your Stripe bank payout schedule and processing time apply after the transfer. The buyer's statutory rights continue after you are paid, and a later refund can require recovery of your share.
- You are responsible for your own tax and for any VAT that applies to your sales.
Currencies and selling abroad
- Your listings and the buyer's charge use your shop's listing currency. A displayed conversion is an estimate. If the buyer's card uses another currency, their bank sets its conversion and any fees. Stripe conversion, settlement checks and its supported payout currencies can affect release of your share; we do not promise a guaranteed conversion rate or immediate foreign-currency payout.
- International orders work like domestic ones on your side: same queue, same label flow. Retrove prepares the customs declaration, sends parcels duties-unpaid, and the buyer settles any import charges on arrival. Returns from abroad are arranged with Retrove directly.
Your stock and listings
- You list only genuine items you own or are authorised to sell, described honestly, with notable flaws disclosed.
- Your shop takes orders once its setup is complete: a shop photo and description, payouts through Stripe, your business contact, where you post from and take returns, and agreement to these terms. If setup is unfinished a few days after approval, we email you what is left.
- Listings go live on Retrove as you add them. You keep your online and in-store stock in sync so a piece is not sold twice.
- Buyers see your business contact (name, address and email) at checkout and in their order confirmation, as consumer law requires. Piece pages and the bag show your trading name, or your shop name if you have none.
- If your shop has nothing on sale for a week, we email you a reminder. While it is empty it is left off the home page and the shop list, and it returns as soon as you list a piece. A shop is never closed for being empty.
- If a piece sells in store at the same moment it is bought online, tell us promptly so we can cancel and refund the online order.
Photos and content
You confirm you own or are licensed to use the photos and text you upload. You grant Retrove a non-exclusive licence to display, resize and use that content to list and market your stock across Retrove and its channels, for as long as you sell with us. You can ask us to remove it when you leave.
Retrove may process your listing photos to present them consistently, for example lifting a garment from its background for grid tiles. Product pages always show your original photo untouched.
Returns and refunds
Buyers have a 14-day cancellation period starting the day after delivery, handled through Retrove. If its final day falls on a weekend or UK bank holiday, it ends after the next working day. After giving notice, buyers have another 14 days to send the piece back. An open return keeps your payout held. If a delivered item is returned in acceptable condition, the buyer is refunded in full, including Retrove's commission. If your payout has already been released, we recover your released share from your connected account. Retrove gives up its own commission. We show you the detail of any adjustment.
For eligible UK online returns, inspect the piece and issue the refund within two working days of confirmed receipt or verified carrier delivery, excluding weekends and UK bank holidays. Report any problem with supporting evidence through your returns queue before that deadline. If you do not respond, you authorise Retrove to refund the buyer on your behalf and recover any released payout. Earlier statutory refund deadlines still apply; international and resale cases are reviewed manually.
Disputes
- A reported problem is sent to Retrove automatically with your explanation and evidence. The payout for that item stays held while the review is open.
- Retrove decides these reviews and leans towards the buyer where the evidence is level, because the marketplace's trust is what sells your next piece. You can ask us to review new evidence or an error; this process does not prevent either party using their legal rights. A refund found against you is recovered as set out under returns.
Postage, loss, theft and damage
- When you fulfil an order using postage generated by Retrove, send it by the method shown, pack it properly, and keep your proof of postage. Risk in the item passes to the buyer on delivery.
- If a parcel sent on Retrove postage is lost or damaged in transit, we will pursue the carrier's compensation and pass the recovered amount through, up to the item's sale value, provided you packed it adequately and can show proof of postage. Carrier limits and exclusions apply.
- If you choose to post by a method other than the one Retrove provides, the risk and any loss in transit are yours.
- Loss, theft or damage to a piece while it is in your possession, before dispatch, is your responsibility.
Authenticity and prohibited items
Everything you sell must be genuine clothing, footwear or accessories. Vintage, pre-owned and new pieces from independent clothing brands are welcome. Describe their condition accurately. No counterfeits, no stolen goods, and nothing unlawful to sell. We rely on the trust we place in vetted shops, and on buyer reports, to keep the edit clean.
Resale royalty
When a piece you sold is later re-sold by its owner on Retrove, your shop automatically receives 3% of that resale price, every time it changes hands on the platform. Nothing to set up; it appears in your payouts like any other line.
The Runway, prizes and vouchers
- Retrove may host styling runs at your shop in the app. Your live stock appears as styling material; this costs you nothing and pieces remain purchasable as normal.
- Where a run offers one of your pieces as its prize, that piece is reserved and hidden from sale for the run. If the run cancels it returns to your rail. When a winner claims it, an order appears in your queue: the winner pays nothing, and Retrove pays you your normal share of the piece's listed price once it ships. Prize orders have no returns window.
- Where a run offers a discount voucher, the discount is funded entirely from Retrove's commission. Your payout on a voucher sale is the same as on any sale.
Buyer messages
Signed-in shoppers can message you from your seller or piece page before buying, or from an existing order. You can read and reply from the Messages page. Aim to reply within a working day. If a message about an order sits unread for four hours, we email you a reminder.
Reviews
Buyers can review your shop once their order is delivered or collected, one review per order, shown on your storefront with its average. Only real buyers of real orders can review; we do not edit or remove reviews for being unflattering, only for abuse.
How pieces and shops are ranked
No shop can pay for a better place. These are the main things that decide where your pieces and shop appear:
- All pieces and shop pages open on Featured. Main garments come before accessories (coats and knitwear highest, then tops, trousers and dresses, then shoes, with accessories last), and brands buyers search for come before unbranded pieces. Pieces with three or more photos, and pieces listed in the last three weeks, get a small lift. The order mixes garment types and brands, and no shop takes more than two places in a row where another shop's piece is close behind. Buyers can sort by newest or by price instead.
- The home page shows shops Retrove has chosen to feature first, then shops in the buyer's country, then shops with more pieces on sale. Shops with a photo come before shops without one, and shops with nothing on sale are left out until they list again. The shop list follows similar rules, and buyers can sort it.
- Search matches the words a buyer types against piece names, brands, descriptions and details, and shop names and towns.
Retrove does not sell stock of its own at the moment. If it ever does, its pieces follow the same rules.
Standards and curation
Retrove is curated. We may decline, remove or hide a listing, or restrict, pause or end your shop, if standards, these terms, or the law are not met. When we do, we tell you why at the time, and where we can we give you a chance to put it right first.
Suspension and ending the agreement
You can end this agreement at any time by asking us to remove your shop. We give you at least 30 days' notice, with our reasons, before we end it, unless the law requires us to act sooner, you have seriously or repeatedly broken these terms, or there is a serious risk to buyers. We may suspend a shop straight away where there is a serious or legal concern, and we tell you why when we do. Either way, orders already placed must still be fulfilled, and payouts and any refunds already in flight are settled in the normal way.
If you disagree with a decision we have made about your shop or listings, email info@retroveclothing.com. A person looks at it again and replies within 14 days.
Liability
Nothing here limits any liability that cannot be limited by law. Beyond that, neither side is liable for indirect or unforeseeable loss. Retrove always pays you your share of each sale as set out above; beyond that, Retrove's total liability to you in connection with a sale is limited to the commission Retrove earned on it. Your buyers' statutory rights are unaffected.
Data
Each of us handles personal data in line with UK data protection law. Retrove processes buyer and order data to run the marketplace; you receive only what you need to fulfil and support an order, and you use it only for that. You do not add buyers to your own marketing without their consent.
In your dashboard you can see your orders with each buyer's name and delivery address, buyer messages, returns, payouts and your pieces' views and saves. Retrove keeps the full order, payment and browsing records it needs to run the marketplace, and never shows you another shop's data. Ask us if you need a copy of your own sales records.
Tax details and HMRC reporting
Retrove is legally required to report seller information and sales totals to HMRC once a seller passes the thresholds in the UK's digital platform reporting rules (30 sales, or about £1,700, in a calendar year). We ask for your tax details when you near them (20 sales or £1,200), by email and in your settings, with a date to add them by. Provide them accurately and keep them up to date. If they are not in by that date, your shop stops taking new orders until they are; orders you already have, and their payouts, carry on as normal. How this data is handled is set out in our Privacy Policy.
Changes
We may update these terms. We email you at least 15 days before a change takes effect, saying what is changing; a change that only benefits you, or that the law requires sooner, can apply sooner. If you keep selling on Retrove once it takes effect, the new terms apply. If you do not agree, you can end this agreement before then and we settle your orders and payouts in the normal way. A change never stops your shop taking orders. Your application records the version you agreed to; the 8 October 2026 version and 5 October 2026 version are retained as dated copies.
Governing law
This agreement is governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts have jurisdiction.
